Heidenheimer, Texas
Heidenheimer grew up around the Santa Fe railroad in 1881 and was named for S. Heidenheimer, a Galveston merchant who served as a railroad director. By 1884 the town had a general store, a blacksmith shop and a church, and by 1896 it supported two cotton gins and a newspaper.
Its post office, opened in 1881, is still serving the community today, and the area along the tracks — with its grain elevator and cotton gin — remains the heart of town. Small, steady and proud of its roots: our kind of place.
