About Little River-Academy
Little River-Academy is two communities in one: the towns of Little River and Academy merged in 1989. Little River sits near the spot where the Leon and Lampasas Rivers come together to form the Little River, and the area’s first settlement dates back to Fort Griffin, built in 1836.
Today the city is home to nearly 2,000 residents and the Academy Independent School District, with schools from early childhood through high school — a close-knit, family-focused community just south of Temple.
